What is an Analytical Essay? We have the answer!
“What is an analytical essay?” – the question you’ve tought at least once. An analytical essay is usually a kind of critical essay submitted to the college or high school teacher in charge of the assignment. It’s an essay which analyze the subject/content such as its pros and cons, examines it as a whole, and then presents some supporting arguments for your point of view. These arguments are usually supported with facts and supporting references. There are times when you may even need to write a thesis statement, or use extensive research on the topic under review.
When writing an analytical work, you should always start with an introduction. The introduction is meant to grab the reader’s attention. The introduction should state what the essay’s purpose is and what the author believes to be the main point of discussion. If it’s a review essay, it should clearly state what the review is about and why the reader should be interested. It should also answer (explain) some important concepts such as the theme, the topic, the thesis statement, etc.
After an introduction, there are two kinds of writing for analysis essay topics: writing about the topic and writing about the writer’s personal opinions. You can write about the topic and try to come up with an argument for the topic. Or, you can write about your personal opinions about the topic. Both are acceptable and can produce either a strong or weak argument depending upon the quality of the writer’s arguments.
Writing about your own personal opinions is best done in an introspective and reflective way. An analytical essay thesis statement will only be persuasive if it is based upon facts and valid information about the thesis statement itself. For example, if the thesis is about the importance of teamwork in organizations, the essay writer should examine their own beliefs and arguments about teamwork and their relation to the thesis statement. This essay should not stray far from the truth, so the writer should give examples where they have seen or been involved in teamwork to back up their statements.
The conclusion of the essay gives the main points and the reasons why those main points should be considered. It also outlines what needs to be covered within the rest of the essay. This part should be very closely followed by an introduction to the main ideas and arguments for the essay. It will need to be organized, though, and this is best done by outlining the essay’s key points in a separate topic sentence.
So, what is an analytical essay? One last important aspect is to make sure that the conclusion does not mislead the reader into thinking that the thesis has already been proved right. If there are any major deviations from what is stated in the introduction and the main body of the essay, this should be corrected before the conclusion. A poor conclusion will not only be misleading to the reader, but will also most likely to cause the reader to re-write the whole essay in order to catch mistakes that were made in the transition from introduction to the thesis. For this reason, it is very important to catch all possible writing mistakes before presenting the conclusion. By catching errors while writing the onclusion, the writer avoids losing important data that will be crucial to the argument.
